Quick Tips On How To Treat Acne And Unclog Pores

Your Skin Deserves The Best!

How To Treat acne

Do you know that Acne clogs your pores, which can make your pores more noticeable. But you can treat it by using a cleanser containing salicylic acid. Studies show salicylic acid can unclog pores. Some cleansers containing salicylic acid are gentle enough to use every day.

However, if the salicylic acid dries or irritates your skin, try alternating cleansers such as cleansers containing stearic acid (As a surfactant, stearic acid is a powerful cleanser). You can use it mildly- I use lots of I stearic acid in most of my body cleansers and scrubs.

As said in my previous post, people who have acne need more than salicylic acne to control their acne. You’ll find more information about how to treat acne at:Acne: Diagnosis and treatment

Protect your face with sunscreen every day

The more sun damaged your skin, the less firmness it has. When skin starts to lose its firmness, pores look more noticeable. Applying a broad-spectrum, water resistant sunscreen with an SPF 30+ helps prevent sun-damaged skin. To protect your skin, apply organic sunscreen every day — even when it’s raining or cold outside. Every time the sun’s rays hit our skin, they can damage our skin. This damage builds up over time.

Exfoliating may make pores less noticeable. To get the results you want, you need to exfoliate safely to avoid damaging your skin. Also, if exfoliating your skin makes you uncomfortable or you aren’t sure this is right for you, a board-certified dermatologist be of help.

Be gentle with your skin

Scrubbing your face won’t make it any cleaner, but scrubbing can irritate your skin, which can make your pores look larger. Picking at, squeezing, or digging into your pores can also irritate your skin, making pores look more noticeable. For these reasons, you want to be very gentle with your skin. Never over scrub, rub, pick at, or squeeze the skin on your face.

Treat sagging skin

As we age, our skin loses its firmness and starts to sag. Pores look larger when skin sags. Examine your skin and if you wish to tighten your skin then by all means you can improve your skicare routine using very simple healthy methods startinng with a good diet, exercise and good organic skin firming product.

What You Should Do When You React To A Skincare Product

Harsh Products
Girl Skin care routine
Best Skin Care Routine

“When it comes to skincare, we believe that dramatic transformation shouldn’t involve too much sacrifice or compromise. However, some scary lab-crafted synthetic products or should I say not-so-natural/organic beauty products end up in our home and seems to achieve quiet an impressive results, but often at the cost of damaging side effects both on our skin and beneath it. Some damage just sit tight waiting to get passed down to the next generation. But In the sea of marketing gimmicks, skincare buzzwords and one-off endorsements of so called “miracle whitening serums, body creams, scrubs and butters etc”, the real question is, how do you discern the real efficacy of those fancy brands with huge followers”?

There has to be a better way right? Yes, the only way is when your skin reacts or you smartly read the contents of the products you are about to put on your skin. But what if they don’t say much about the ingredients used? in that case you should be weary of such products.

Let’s have some fun while we deicided what to do and find out a few details about skin reactions to skincare products. I made this post becuase I’ve decided to share more insight about the reason most people use very little and get maximum results while other just get stuck in between.

This post concerns those who react to products that are supposed to work and give that flawless skin but instead they wound up with breakouts so bad that is scared the Heebie-jeebies out of their life!

Seriously? I get that alot, being a skincare formulator it’s kinda challenging but interesting to manage a raging skin with countless alergies “sensitive skin”. I don’t like it but if I am to count myself as a self proclaimed skin care formulator then I should be able to come up with a sound solution and a permanent one for that matter.

If you follow what I mean then say aii if not say neii- lolz 😂, ok, kidding

Let go back to history lane why do we even have breakouts and what are the diffrent types of breakouts Check out this post to learn more

Let’s see what the dermatologists are saying about acne and how it’s diagnosed keep reading…

How do dermatologists diagnose acne?

How dermatologist diagnose acne?

A dermatologist will first examine your skin to make sure you have acne. Other skin conditions can look like acne. If you have acne, the dermatologist will:

  • Grade the acne. Grade 1 is mild acne. Grade 4 is severe acne.
  • Note what type, or types, of acne appear on your skin.

How do dermatologists treat acne?

I do understand the frustration when you have practically tried every best cream on the counter, expensive, nameless products and high class designers made product yet you still end up with same or no results at all. Believe me I get it!

Well, in all my years of dealing with breakouts and others experiences in dealing with acne, plus my countless researches, yet when I come face to face with had to deal with argurmentative dividuals I find myself struggling to spell out my name- just to prove a pointless point!

You may wanna ask why they argue, well, do you blame them? they have tried all they could lay their hands on financially and otherwise just to look good yet they didnt get the result they sought. So, it’s kinda like fair if they end up arguring with you the whole day.

This might sound offensive to some but before you go into an argurment do your verifications, perform an intensive research from reliable source. Also, do avoid seeping in too many information which might end up being useless and counter productive to you.

Today, millions of women worldwide are seeking for one way or the other to improve their skincare routine. And what is the truth? The truth is, in other to maintain a quality skin you must cleanse yourself starting from the inside and must take plenty of fluid and good diet too and oh, plus exercice.

It doesnt matter what I do, the most success I had ever recorded was when I detox before my skincare routine. Therefore I offer to detox my cleints and go as far as offering them a free diet 2 weeks plan- (Now a paid plan by the way)*

This does not mean that every acne treatment works for everyone who has acne. But it does mean that virtually every case of acne can be controlled if one follow the right procedure with commitment of course.

The skin texture and type matters too and I learned that those scars and deep tissue scars including pimples can actually fade with little care and affordable too. People who have mild acne have a few blemishes. They may have whiteheads, blackheads, papules, and/or pustules (aka pimples). Many people can treat mild acne with products that you can buy without a prescription. A product containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid often clears the skin but not many people come back with great results. On the other hand not everyone would record success to the treatment.

What you should know though, you won’t see the results overnight. One more thing, being clean goes a long way, you should form the good habit of properly cleansing your skin and avoid bacteria growth or molds on your soap, sponge and towels. Also, wiping a dirty hand on your face could trigger breakout and touching your mouth, nose, or eyes with dirty hands can spread things like cold. Avoid dirty pillow case and if you must, spray some bacterial killing sprays I make my own spray for my clothes, pillows and linens spray.

The easiest anti bacterial linen spray:

  • 2 cups white distilled vinegar
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 10 drops- Lemon ES Oil
  • 10 drops -Tea tree ES Oil
  • 15 drops-Lavender (I love adding lavender essential oil in all my relaxing oils).
  • Put ingredients in a spray bottle and mix together. The vinegar, tea tree and bicarbona soda works as a disinfectant (see research about bakinng soda). You use essential oil to make it smell the way you’d like. Lavender is a common favorite oil when associated with relaxing but don’t go overboard with it

Despite the claims, acne treatment does not work overnight. At-home treatment requires 4-8 weeks to see improvement. Once acne clears, you must continue to treat the skin to prevent breakouts. Such as use good facial toners, serums, acne wash and botanical spritzs my all time favorite!

What annoys me the most?

Can’t say for sure, but I get easily upset when I find myself in a middle of breakout especially when I had to attend an important function. I also detest having to end up in a finger pointing episode- “blame game” well, I know that one can’t get it right when all you do is doing it the wrong way. No need to blame it on the products if all you do is use it once and then toss it expencting to see result from first use. Although, as said before some people can even see result from first use, but that totally depends on the skin type. Not all skin react the same. So before you ditch your prescription/product find out the following:

  • Have you been using it with other products ?
  • Do you follow instructions to the later?
  • Are you sure you are reacting to the product or is it something else you are using/ ate?
  • How good is your diet?
  • Have you been experiencing the same reactiong with other product?
  • When was your last detox and was it done properly?
  • How long have you been on a particular product?
  • Does your body/skin react when you switch to a new product?
  • Do you often press, tug, pull and burst your pimples when ever they show up?

When to see a dermatologist

If you have a lot of acne, cysts, or nodules, a medicine that you can buy without a prescription may not work. If you want to see clearer skin, you should be serious about your skincare routine and visit your dermatologist for a prescription if any is required.

Acne treatment that you apply to the skin

Most acne treatments are applied to the skin. Your dermatologist may call this topical treatment. There are many topical acne treatments. Some topicals help kill the bacteria. Others work on reducing the oil. The topical medicine may contain a retinoid, prescription-strength benzoyl peroxide, antibiotic, or even salicylic acid. Your dermatologist will determine what you need. By the way just becuase you skin produces oil that doesnt mean it’s unhealthy also it could mean a sign that your skin isnt doing well.

Why do you have too much oil on your face?

If you find your skin is suddenly too oily than normal or too dry, it could be a sign that you’re stripping it of its natural oils. In that case your skin could react by producing more oil which acts as a barrier to keep out dirt and other free radicals in the environment. It does this by arming itself with a healthy balance of oils that keep moisture in, and over-washing or using a product that strips your skin of this natural oil is bad for the business of maintaining that barrier. “If you’re using harsh products or not enough moisturizer, your skin will overcompensate for it and produce even more oil,” explains Eric Schweiger, MD, dermatologist, founder of Schweiger Dermatology Group and RealSelf contributor.

Get a moisturizer or serum containing hyaluronic acid rather than body oils to hydrate the skin and use a gentler cleanser, my humble recommendation is to apply oil based cleaser-by the way I cleanse my skin using oil based cleanser containing hyaluroric and it works wonders on my skin.

Please note, whether it’s a cleanser, lotion, or mask—no skin-care product should cause excess burning or stinging. “This is often a sign that you’re allergic to it,” explains S. Manjula Jegasothy, MD, dermatologist and founder of Miami Skin Institute.

By the way do you know your skin defence itself?

Known as contact dermatitis, this reaction is your skin’s defense mechanism to shield itself from the offending ingredient, whether it’s a fragrance, preservatives, or other additives. Some enzyme and acid-based masks can cause mild stinging of the skin for about a minute, but, if your skin feels like it’s on fire, do not suffer in the name of beauty—wash it off! You’re either allergic to something in the product or your skin is simply too sensitive for whatever it contains and that’s why it’s reacting to it.

Are there Acne treatment that works throughout the body?

The answer is yes, the medicine that works throughout the body may be necessary when you have red, swollen types of acne. This type of treatment is usually necessary to treat acne cysts and nodules. Your dermatologist may prescribe one or more of these:

  • Antibiotics (helps to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation).
  • Birth control pills and other medicine that works on hormones (can be helpful for women).
  • Isotretinoin (the only treatment that works on all that causes acne).

What can treat large facial pores?

When you look in the mirror, wish you could shrink those large pores? There’s actually a lot more you can do to make those pores less noticeable. Much of this, you can do on your own.

Here’s what dermatologists recommend.

Use only non-comedogenic skin care products and makeup:

The word “non-comedogenic” means the product won’t clog your pores. When pores clog, they expand, which can make your pores look more noticeable. To avoid clogged pores, look for one of the following terms on everything you apply to your face:

  • Non-comedogenic
  • Non pore clogging oily products /Oil free
  • Won’t clog pores

If you don’t see one of these terms, don’t use the product.

Safflower, Argan oil, Jojoba oil are non comedogenic oils safe to use on your facial skin. As I am more on the natural side of skin care I would suggest to try natural remedies over commercial product.

Cleanse your face twice a day

Clogged pores or an oily complexion can make pores look larger. Cleansing twice daily can unclog pores, prevent clogged pores, and reduce oiliness. When cleansing your face, you’ll want to:

  • Use warm water. Hot water can irritate your skin, causing pores to look larger.
  • Gently wash your face. Scrubbing can irritate your skin, causing inflammation. When skin is inflamed, pores tend to be more noticeable.
  • Find a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser. Again, you want to do everything you can to stop irritating your skin and stop clogging your pores.
  • Oil Cleansing method

Now someone is wondering how oil cleanser could work for a face dripping oil? when I first heard about the Oil Cleansing Method ( OCM, for short), I thought it was crazy and unrealistic.  That it would never, ever work for my oily, problematic skin. But trust my inquisitive nature, so I gave it a try.  And it actuallycame to be my all time favorite.  Really good!  The theory is that if you want to dissolve oil from your face, use oil.  And not just any oil, but the classic Castor Oil which as deep cleansing properties.  Then you steam it off with a hot washcloth.  It leaves your skin with a lovely rosy glow and deeply cleaned.

Waiting for acne to clear on its own can be quiet frustrating. Without treatment, acne can cause permanent scars, low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety and even fatigue.

To avoid these possible outcomes, dermatologists recommend that people treat acne. When the skin clears, treatment should continue. Treatment prevents new breakouts. Your dermatologist can tell you when you no longer need to treat acne to prevent breakouts.

By the way you are beautiful!

Finally What You Should And Should Not Do When You Get A Breakout?

I would rather recommend you don’t panick, here are a few honest and humble questions:

  • When was your last period and how was the flow?
  • Age range plays a crusial role too, how old are you?
  • What is your stress level/hormone? becuase your level / raging hormone could trigger a breakout
  • How strong is your facial hygiene?
  • Generally speaking what do you wipe your face with?
  • Are you presently shoveling lots of greasy, starchy foods and less greens on your dinner plate?
  • How often do you drink water a day/quantity?
  • Do you exercise a little/rigorous or you simply move a few fingers and a few toes?
  • How nasty does your breath smell and how cool is it? nasty breath is often a sign that all is not well in our guts
  • And what about the gas, do you even pass a few windy gas or you are one gorgeous hurrican Catrina walking about with it loaded safely in your guts?
  • If you gas a few, how often?
  • When you gas, do a few or lots of flies and bees including butterflies drop when you release a few abominable wind-kidding!😂
  • And when you finally go, do you pass poop that is fit to cause 4th -6th world war
  • Does your poo smell like a baby shampoo or plain lethal (poop is poop)
  • Ok do you constantly tug, pull and tries to burst your zits/pimples etc?

If you answer 80% affirmative to the questions then you seriously need to see a doctor for all round health check and equally a dermatologist if need be.

Fun is over !

The truth is, it might sound funny but in reality these are signs of one ailment or plain lack of healthy diet of lifestyle which could make it’s way to our face in form of breakouts. Skin can show first signs of some internal problem.

Why Do I React To Organic Skincare Products?

It seems like natural products would be safer for your skin than the sythetic ones you’ve gotten used to. Research shows that when people suddenly swap chemical-based products to 100% organic products the body tend to react. The research proved beyond doubt that although they reacted however, those who continued with the products ended up getting clearer and better skin than those who stopped midway and went back to it others are not so lucky.

Please note:

People have to be informed of the fact that just because-a product is botanical, that doesn’t meant it’s not going to be an irritant or an allergen

Mona Gohara, MD, associate clinical professor at the Yale University department of dermatology

After all Poison is Ivy’s organic but it’s not good for you.

An important point to remember is that nobody is born allergic!

“Allergies develop over time. Sometimes, people are surprised because they’ve always used a particular product and then one day boom they develop an allergy!.”

Acne Is A Common Problems But Often Too Tough To Handle Alone

As you well know acne has been around plaguing mankind from only nobody knows when it all began. Jokes apart it has caused a lot of damage than good to our self-esteem and it would be a huge relief if we could only get rid of it without the use of harmful chemicals and cosmetics teeming the markets. Egg whites are often used in homemade facial masks for treating acne. The thing is they are very cheap yet are effective, and they don’t require any special skill or expensive ingredients to get it right.

Pimples Can Be As Embarrassing Too

Warning! Don’t just use any egg yolks in sight on your skin. They are more likely to be contaminated with bacteria than egg whites. Apply with caution if you must use!

Step 1-Cut the the lemon in two, and squeeze our the lemon juice into a clean washed bowl until you get a reasonable amout of juice say about 2 spoonful, use a strainer to catch the seeds into the other small bowl.

Step 2- Now add 1 tablespoon (20ml) of lemon juice and add to the egg whites. Whisk the egg whites and lemon juice together until you have a white, foamy -like mixture.

Step 3- Wash your hands and cleanse your face, patting it dry with a clean towel.

Step 4- apply the egg white mixture evenly over your face. Allow it to dry for about 15 minutes, and then rinse off with warm water. Pat your skin dry with the other clean towel and inspect in the mirror, Voila!

This should leave your skin with a more even refreshing and deep tone. Don’t expect an instant relief it may take a 1-2 weeks to get the required result due to different skin textures and types. Although, it may loosen blackheads and lighten dark spots left by pimples. Don’t forget to apply a light moisturizer to your face to seal in the moisture left in your skin by the mask.

This mixture works well for all above skin conditions.
